Nightmares On Wax

Incoming

The legendary Nightmares on Wax are back and have announced a full live UK tour commencing in March. The set-up will not only feature foundation-shaking bass courtesy of the breathtaking Iration Steppas Sound System (which we've heard and is absolutely immense) but also a full compliment of vocalists and DJ's. It will be an ideal showcase for the dub-heavy influences behind new album In A Space Outta Sound, and a little bit of Kingston, brought to a venue near you!

Full list of dates + tickets

No other producer can find and forge samples quite as effortlessly as George Evelyn, and the new record, his first for four years, serves to perfect the sample based style of classic albums Smokers Delight and Carboot Soul.

In A Space Outta Sound is released on 20th March in the UK, and is out now in the rest of the world - just in time to soundtrack the breakthrough of spring sunshine.

“Precisely constructed, gorgeously fluid, this is further proof of a timeless talent” Flux

Finally, to help you while away those long hours at work, we have made a Sound System Game to celebrate the release! It's a new version of an old classic and you can hear tracks from the album while playing it. But beware; it's addictive like crack berries…

Tyondai Braxton

We are delighted to announce the signing of Tyondai Braxton as a solo artist on Warp.

Many of you will recognise him as a member of Battles, where he bastardises keyboards, guitar and beat-box to their rawest and most rhythmically driven components. A much-lauded experimental artist in his own right, Tyondai solo sits cross-legged among an array of pedals and effect machines building one-man orchestras of generated sounds and abstract textures to devastating results. Expect new recorded material later this year.

Clark

Jimmy Edgar

The new EP from the newly-monikered Clark, Throttle Furniture, is out now on 3” CD from Warpmart and download from Bleep. We think it is some of his best material to date and really makes us hot for the new album, due later this year.

Clark is currently on tour with 65daysofstatic. Check the Live section below for remaining dates.

Jamie Lidell

Jamie is on a journey to superstar status in the Netherlands!

Multiply was a Top 40 single in the hit parade after huge daytime support on national radio and last week he appeared live on TV with premier Dutch chat show host, Raymann Islaat. A new single, What’s The Use? will be released on 10th March. Big up Holland; you know!

We also have a rather lovely new video by Konx-Om-Pax for album opener You Got Me Up for you to download for free

Mira Calix

Squarepusher - Ultravisitor

Mira Calix’s esteemed collaboration with famed pianist Sarah Nicolls and Sound Intermedia’s David Sheppard, Alexander’s Annexe, has reconvened for a new run of shows.

The dates will feature new pieces that “explore the creative possibilities that contemporary instrumental techniques, live-electronic manipulation and compiled electronic sound can bring”, and include visuals from Flat-e. The first two dates in the run are in Warp Live below. More UK and European dates will follow throughout 2006.

!!!

!!! will support the Red Hot Chilli Peppers on a massive UK stadium tour this summer. A full list of dates and ticket info is in Warp Live below.

The band are currently in the studio committing the new material previewed at their recent live shows to tape in preparation for their next full-length this year.

Plaid

Plaid are currently putting the finishing touches to their audio/visual project, Greedy Baby.

Produced with collaborator-in-chief Bob, the pieces were first presented as part of the Ether Festival 2004 in a very raw form. They have since undergone substantial evolution via an eye-popping showing at the Waterloo IMAX cinema.

A release date is yet to be confirmed, but you will be first to know.
